Training and Capacity Development

Suicide Prevention

Rural Alive & Well actively encourages training and capacity building to strengthen individuals and rural communities to prevent suicide in rural Tasmania.

RAW facilitates training to build a community’s strength and capacity to prevent suicide. We offer comprehensive mentoring and support to communities and flexible training through a simple yet effective model.

Our training empowers local communities to recognise the signs and indicators of suicide and gives people the confidence and skills to intervene before a crisis occurs.

Participants learn the importance of being direct; it gives people the confidence to help someone at risk and to refer on to appropriate services.

RAW’s training programs do not require detailed knowledge or skills and is at the level where people feel comfortable about using their new skills.

The program serves as a link between a social problem and specialised services available within, and beyond a community. Significantly, the program does not impinge upon the practices of specialised services but leads individuals to them.

If you or your community are interested in either undertaking some form of training or to have us facilitate training in your local community please contact us.

For further information about training in your area please contact RAW at admin@rawtas.com.au or phone us at 62 541 092.
