RAW has been reaching out and providing assertive outreach for over 13 years across Tasmania. RAW Country is a unique suicide preventionprogram which is unreplicated within the Southern Hemisphere.
RAW Country aims to improve mental health and well-being and prevent repeat suicide attempts and suicide deaths. Our team demonstrate genuine care and have an understanding of living in rural and remote areas. They are proactive in providing ongoing practical and emotional support.
The RAW Country team focus on person centered engagement and takes the time needed to connect with people, providing ongoing practical support and/or referral to key services. Our approach to client engagement is ‘non-clinical’ in style and presents as caring, confidential, non-intrusive, and available when and where the help is most needed.
The RAW Country Program operates in a ‘step-up/step-down’ model by providing systems navigation including facilitating engagement of rural people with clinical and specialist services as required, and by working in partnership with families and communities to support integration and reintegration of individuals into their local community networks including into social and recreational programs.
Our team also work with communities across regional and rural Tasmania to initiate and facilitate much-needed community wellbeing programs and activities to increase connectivity and reduce social isolation.
This program provides a strategic and coordinated response to; bushfire, flood, and other natural disasters that have a detrimental effect on local communities. RAW has always been on the frontline across Tasmania through fire, flood this program will allow us to be better prepared in the event of an emergency situation. The RAW Country team will work with individuals and communities for the long term – from response to recovery and beyond!
